On Dec 8th to 10th, Professor Nori Kurata, who comes from National Institute of Genetics in Japan, visited our lab. She was invited here by Dr. Bin Han. On Wednesday morning, she gave a talk about wild rice and genome diversity studies. There are two major research subjects in her lab (Plant Genetics Laboratory Kurata Laboratory), one is analysis of genetic programs underlying the processes from gametogenesis to embryogenesis ~ shoot formation in rice, another is combined comparative genomic analysis of genetic diversity and reproductive barriers using wild and cultivated rice.
