2010-11-10 Nature Genetics: the latest publication at NCGR
The construction of a comprehensive HapMap for rice (Oryza sativa) has been finished recently. This research was published in Nature Genetics (42:961-967, 2010). The key members of this job include Professor Bin Han (the leader of NCGR), Xuehui Huang (student), Dr. Xinghua Wei (collaborator), Professor Tao Sang (collaborator), Qiang Zhao (staff) and Dr. Qi Feng as well. They have identified ~3.6 million SNPs by sequencing 517 rice landraces and constructed a high-density haplotype map of the rice genome using a novel data-imputation method. They performed genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for 14 agronomic traits in the population of Oryza sativa indica subspecies. Dr. Richard M Clark remarked it as 'Genome-wide association studies coming of age in rice' (Nature Genetics, 42:926-927, 2010). You can find the detailed information about this research in the section of Scientific publications.
